06 Jun 1945: 
an RTAF Ki-271 was assembled from parts salvaged from four Ki‑27s damaged in the 11 Nov 1944 dogfight over Lampang. Unfortunately, during a flight test from Lampang Airport, the resurrected plane crashed in a community area in front of the Lampang Provincial Governor’s residence, about 2km north of the airport. The pilot, Prakob Prapin was killed.2 The wreckage is assumed to have been scrapped. Note that this was only about two months before the end of the war.

Time 0730 hrs. Flt Sgt Prakob Praphin, test flying an RTAF 16th Squadron Nakajima Ki‑27, which had just been repaired from combat damage on 11 November 1944, took off from Lampang Airfield. The engine failed and the plane crashed in a community area in front of the Lampang Provincial Governor’s residence4 (Google Maps link). The pilot was killed and the plane was a total loss.
